1. LakeRidge

4. Melonie Park

Residents of Melonie Park can easily reach their destination by taking the highway known as Loop 289, which connects Interstate 27 and encircles the city.

Local establishments include a couple of restaurants that are located just east of the community. One of them is Orlando’s Italian Restaurant, which was established in 1965. For over 50 years, this establishment has been serving up Italian dishes. Another hotspot, Anna’s Mexican Restaurant, offers a variety of food items, such as enchiladas, burritos, and tacos.

Shopaholics can head to KK's Corner Mall, which features various vendors, such as home decorations and vintage clothing.

6. Maxey Park

Three of the neighborhood’s best schools: Ramirez Elementary, Hutchinson Middle, and Lubbock High.

The local Pete Ragus Aquatic Center is a hotspot for residents and even serves as a venue for various classes. Plus, you’ll probably take the kids here for swim competitions.

South Overton is also known for its many independent shops, such as the popular Monomyth Coffee, which serves up creative takes on traditional coffee drinks.

10. Preston Smith

Preston Smith is around 10 miles south of Downtown Lubbock, which can be easily accessed via Loop 289 and US-82. You’ll likely need a car if you’re living here, but the nearest public transportation stop is a mile away from the neighborhood on Slide Road and 82nd Street.

11. Heart of Lubbock

Heart of Lubbock Community Garden also provides local vegetables for the growing community. 12. Tech Terrace

You can also attend the restaurant’s weekly run club and its monthly book club.
