Packing Tips for a Less Stressful Move

  • Put your heaviest items in the smallest boxes and work up to the lightest items in the largest boxes. Your back will thank you.
  • Pack your house in reverse order of what you use – pack the things you use least first, moving to packing the most-used items last.
  • Remember that the more boxes you have, the more you can maximize the space in your container.
  • Think about how you can most efficiently use what you have to pack – this minimizes the number of boxes you need and gives you less debris to trash at your new place. Can you pack plates in some clothes? Or use big winter blankets to pad electronics like TVs?
  • Invest in a good tape dispenser. When you’re building 30 boxes, nothing is more frustrating than a tape dispenser that tangles or doesn’t dispense evenly.
