PODS® History
Founded in 1998 by Pete Warhurst, still the CEO, Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) is in Clearwater Florida. PODS reinvented the moving and storage industry by originating the concept of transporting mobile storage containers. The convenient, cost-effective service is unique in that the patented hydraulic lift system (only available with PODS) is designed to significantly reduce contents shifting while the PODS container is being loaded onto the truck for transport. The container is then securely transported across town, across state, across the country or to one of our secure and clean Storage Centers or even internationally.

Currently, the PODS network provides service to a population of over 230 million consumers and businesses in the US, Canada and Australia. To date over 780,000 reservations have been completed and there are over 121,000 PODS containers in service. Our patented PODZILLA® lift system has never dropped a container and we are proud to report that over 92% of our customers would recommend us to family and friends.

An engineer’s certification confirms that the sturdy, weather-resistant container (partially full) can withstand a wind velocity of up to 110 miles per hour.
